IslandWood's Urban School Programs Team delivers science education programs in urban settings, including at the Brightwater Center in Woodinville, schoolyard lessons connected to IslandWood's School Overnight Program on Bainbridge Island, Field Studies in Seattle connected to Seattle Public School’s Land and Water unit, and Professional Development Opportunities for teachers. Our programs connect school science curriculum to watersheds and other built and natural systems in or near the communities where students live. Each has been designed in partnership with local school districts to teach Washington education standards and assist students in preparing for Washington State Assessment exams. Our programs especially help teachers work with Next Generation Science Standards.
